Word Art Wednesday #94

Hi!  Welcome back to Word Art Wednesday.  This weeks word is from 1 Timothy...

Today's verse is part of the often misquoted  passage of scripture that talks about the love of money.  1 Timothy 6:6-10 reads...

But godliness with contentment is great gain.  For we brought nothing into the world and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.  People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.  For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.  Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.  1Timothy 6:6-10

Our society today seems to value things over everything else.  The more you have ...money and possessions...the better you are.  It 's so easy to feel discontent when you are just getting by, or living from paycheck to paycheck struggling to pay your bills.  When you feel yourself growing discontent remember that pursuing money is a dead-end prospect.  Remind yourself that while God won't supply all your wants, he will supply your needs.  Then let love for God - rather than love for money -rule your heart and you will discover that you have true riches.

My mother's family didn't have a lot in the way of material things while she was growing up, but they had their love for God and they had each other.  When I look my grandmother's old photos,  I  don't see pictures of anguish and despair, instead I see photos of joy and contentment.  A contentment that only comes from love for God.

  3. What a beautiful card, Gemiel! You inherited a wonderful gene when you got their joy and contentment gene, my friend. I am not too much younger than your grandparents, I suspect, so I know that life was difficult for them. The LORD be praised for blessing them with that joy and contentment.

  4. Hi Gemiel, lovely layout and post. I always love reading about your family and seeing the ways you honor them with your gift of scrapbooking. I have items I have made using pictures of my family and need to post them. It is wonderful to share their love of life and love for the Lord. Sending hugs your way.
